The Japan national team resumed training on Monday, a day after drawing 2–2 with the Netherlands in their World Cup Group F opener.
The Samurai Blue played a practice match against their U-19 side, with players who started the previous day sitting out.
“The fact that we managed to come back twice after going behind is undoubtedly a positive,” Captain Kou Itakura said. “But we’re not satisfied with that, and I believe the next match against Tunisia will be very important. I’ve experienced this at the last World Cup as well, so I’m fully focused.”
Japan are scheduled to play their second match against Tunisia in Monterrey, Mexico, on Saturday.
Japan have been drawn in Group F alongside the Netherlands, Sweden and Tunisia.
