π Match Recap:
Spain looked in complete control after Γlvaro Morata put them ahead in just the 11th minute, with La Roja dominating the ball and appearing set for a routine first-half performance. The second half, however, told an entirely different story.
Japan came out transformed β Ritsu Doan levelled things up in the 48th minute with a ferocious finish, and barely three minutes later Ao Tanaka prodded in what proved to be the decisive goal in one of the tournament’s most hotly debated moments. Replays showed the ball had barely remained in bounds before the cross came in, yet after VAR review the goal was allowed to stand.
The result sent shockwaves through Group E β Japan advanced to the knockout rounds while Spain’s grip on top spot slipped, and crucially, Germany were simultaneously knocked out of the competition. It was yet another extraordinary comeback from the Samurai Blue, who once again dismantled a major footballing nation through sheer determination, lightning pace, and relentless second-half pressing.
One of Qatar 2022’s most unforgettable nights. π―π΅π₯ξξ»ξξ»ξΉξ
