In 1972, U.S. Olympic runners Vincent Matthews and Wayne Collett staged the Black Power salute during the Men’s 400 meters medal ceremony at the Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. This event is also known as ‘The Forgotten Protest’ and happened four years after the 1968 Olympics Black Power salute.
